My name is Edelweiss De Guzman Vogel. I grew up in the Philippines and moved to the U.S. when I was eighteen. I'm an illustrator, freelance artist and educator.

I find joy in manipulating materials and exploring their transformative capacities. By utilizing simple shapes and colors, I strive to create illusions and forms that captivate the viewer's imagination. I draw inspiration from diverse cultures and contemporary trends, recognizing the power of cross-cultural learning. It is my desire to share my own cultural background and inspire others through my unique artistry.

A little bit about me…

I teach visual art at The Brawley IB World School. Salvador Dali said, "A true artist is not one who is inspired, but one who inspires others." My goal is to help students to become innovative and use their art to create dialogue or awareness in finding solutions to issues that they are facing. I enjoy incorporating diverse cultural backgrounds into the lesson content. The most valuable lessons can often be found in learning a new culture. I look forward to sharing my own.

In my spare time, I enjoy making Avant-Garde dresses from unconventional and recycled/collected materials. My most recent show was at the 2019 Paris Fashion Week in Paris hosted by Oxford Studio sponsored by Opera Carolina. I find inspiration in many things, from stylistic comic book art to the techniques of the past, like the Expressionist, Avant-Garde and Art Deco styles.
